The Cincinnati Museum and Art Center will create the $300-million, 1.1 million-square-foot Cincinnati Museum & Art Center, which is expected to open this year.
The museum and museum center will house more than 1,200 artifacts, most of them from the 1800s to the mid-1900s, and will be the largest museum dedicated to Native American culture in the nation.
The museum and center will combine the expertise of museum administrators, curators and conservators, said Mary Lynn Wilson, a vice president of the Cincinnati museum center.
The center will include the largest collection of Native Americans, including the largest American Indian art collection ever assembled, the largest sculpture collection ever, the most diverse collection of human remains in the world, and the largest library collection in the United States, said Karen Hensley, president of The Ohio State University.
The Cincinnati Museum will include more than 4,300 artifacts, including artifacts that are at the Smithsonian Institution, which includes more than 6,300 items.
The Cleveland Museum of Art, which has about 1,800 items, will be joined by the Cincinnati Collection, which will include artifacts from the Smithsonian and the Cleveland Museum.
The Ohio Heritage Center, founded by the Ohio Historical Society, will house an expanded collection of historical artifacts from that community, including several pieces of art and sculptures.
The Cleveland Museum Center, created by the National Endowment for the Humanities and the American Museum of Natural History, will hold more than 700,000 artifacts, and is expected for opening this fall.
The University of Cincinnati’s new National Museum and Center, built in partnership with the university, will have more than 50,000 items, including nearly 3,000 historical artifacts, according to a statement from the university.
The University of Dayton will build the National Museum in conjunction with the Ohio Heritage Collection and the Ohio State Museum.
Dayton’s National Center for Native American Studies will be led by a senior scholar in anthropology and archaeology.
The Ohio State Art Museum, which opened in 2003, will open in 2020.
The Museum Center is being named after the late museum pioneer and curator Charles “Chip” Wagoner, a curator of ceramics, art, art history and public service.
The building will include a gallery and gallery of works from the Wagoners and other American Indian artists.
The National Center on the Arts, the nation’s largest collection, is scheduled to open in 2021.
The collection includes more 2,300 works of art, including more than 400 by the Wainmakers and other Native American artists.
The National Center of American History will be expanded in 2021, with more than 200,000 works by artists from across the country, including contemporary American art, Native American art and Native American ceramic.
The $300 billion museum and the $200 billion museum are the largest projects of their kind in the U.S. and will create jobs, boost the economy and create thousands of jobs, according the Smithsonian Institute.
The new museums will add more than 10,000 jobs in the first year and create more than 3,400 permanent jobs in five years, said John Besser, president and chief executive of the Smithsonian.
The Smithsonian’s board of trustees unanimously approved the expansion in September.
